ASPP DC/South Board Members

Lori Epstein (President ASPP DC/South)

Lori has been a member of ASPP for more than 10 years, starting her involvement when she lived in NYC and worked for Barnes & Noble Publishing. She is the Senior Photo Editor of Children’s Publishing at the National Geographic Society and also a freelance photographer. Her work includes a number of photography books published by the National Geographic. She sometimes travels with a monkey on her back.  Website:  www.loriepstein.com

 

Jeff Mauritzen (Blog)

Jeff has been a member of ASPP for 1 year now and is now managing the ASPP DC/South blog. He is a full-time professional photographer with his company inPhotograph, which specializes in Editorial Photography, Event Photography & Corporate Photography. Jeff also enjoys shooting travel stock photography. He sometimes travels with a greyhound in the back of his jeep.

 

 

Beth Caldwell (Secretary)

Beth studied Mass Communcation at Frostburg State University and Visual Journalism at Brooks Institute in CA.  She started her career at Tony Stone Images (Getty) in Chicago and has worked in advertising as a researcher and buyer and also worked for a small, yet very busy photo studio where she photographed portraits, sports and other events. She currently is the Manager of the Interactive Photo Editors at Discovery Communications where she works on Animal Planet & Science Channel.  Her two-year old son is her model of choice, but she also loves to photograph other people’s kids and families and weddings. www.bethcaldwell.com

 

 

Larry Levin (Programs)

Larry Levin works as a freelance photographer and photo editor. He earned an MFA in Film and Electronic Media at American University. “Stryker’s America” is his thesis project based on the photographic documentation of the Great Depression and is distributed by Films.com. He is an adjunct professor at American University in Washington DC and Northern Virginia Community College. Judy Heffner (Membership)

Judy Heffner is a freelance photographer whose main interests are portrait and fine art photography.  She has volunteered her time to several non-profit  organizations, including one that provides free preschool education, health and education services to low-income families, and the Heart Gallery, which promotes placement of foster children in permanent homes with the aid of professional photographic portraits.  Judy previously served as the chapter secretary, and is now serves the Board in membership.

 

 

 

Sally Russell is the Creative Director of Media for Product Development at K¹² Inc. where she is responsible for directing the creation and licensing of multimedia products, including audio, video and photography, and negotiating licensing for the digital, print and e-publishing world. Sally has been a member of ASPP for many years and has served on the board of ASPP-DC/South since February 2007. She lives in Arlington with her husband, daughter, and multiple pets.
